Encouraging news today from the World Health Organization (

WHO says
new Covid
cases worldwide have fallen by HALF from 5 million per week on January 4th to around 2 million during the past week of February 15th. It has registered six straight weeks of declines. The death rate also appears to be in retreat, albeit at a slower pace. A blend of rising
vaccination, more masks, quicker testing, better lockdowns, and warmer weather seem to be driving a Covid reduction.
This is
good news for tech markets, which have been battered by Covid. Many workers around the world have lost lives and livelihoods.
Less virus means more confidence and
more consumers willing to spend instore and online, More
smartphones will be sold, as people start to
socialize again and showoff their latest, shiny 5G gadget.
Of course, Covid could
cycle back up at any moment. Some countries may be under-reporting numbers. Covid is a new virus that is hard to predict. Local variants could swerve vaccines. But, for now, the signals are promising, and the brutal virus appears in
retreat. Gadget markets should get ready for a mini-boom.
