OLED Screens to Reach 80% of Smartwatches in 2022

by Neil Mawston | 11月 11, 2021

New research (here) from our Wearables tracker forecasts over 80% of all smartwatches sold worldwide will use an OLED display in 2022.

OLED delivers a high-quality screen indoors and "good enough" outdoors. OLED Is replacing TFT designs across most price-tiers.

Apple and Samsung, among others, began the OLED trend a few years ago, and most rivals have gone down the same road. Key OLED models today include Apple Watch 7, Samsung Watch Active 2, Fitbit Sense, Garmin Venu 2, and Fossil Gen 5.

Some brands, such as Konka of China, say battery-friendly microLED screens will eventually replace OLED tech in smartwatches, But, for now, 8 in 10 of all smartwatches employ OLED and its leadership remains strong.
