Speculation continues to fly around the Internet this week that
Apple's rumored
VR headset could cost as much as
US$3,000 retail if (or when) it is launched commercially in the US, China or worldwide during H1 2022.
Three-thousand dollars... The price of a small, second-hand
car.
At that price, probably for the top model, an Apple virtual reality headset is obviously going to be restricted to the
top 10% of
richest consumers or workers in the wealthiest cities.
You will need deep pockets and long arms to
buy (or rent) one. Apple will need to create some fancy
finance schemes.
App
developers will surely go wild for an "iVR". The opportunity to sell ultra-premium
games, virtual holiday bookings or 3D furniture shopping to affluent Millennials and others will be hard to resist.
