Samsung Talks Up Tizen OS for Wearables

by Neil Mawston | 5月 17, 2017

Our WDE (Wearables) service notes Samsung this week has been using the annual Tizen Developer Conference to talk up the potential of the platform for smaller mobile devices, such as wearables, IOT, and so forth.

Samsung and others are optimizing Tizen 4.0 by partnering with Microsoft (apps), Broadlink (chips), Glympse (location services) and others for its emerging ecosystem. The pieces of the jigsaw are being slotted into place.

This approach makes sense for Tizen. The OS has flopped in smartphones, but it does have a surprisingly healthy 19% share of all smartwatches shipped worldwide in Q1 2017. Samsung and Tizen are playing to their strengths.
