Global Smartphone Shipments and Sales Decreased in October 2022

According to Strategy Analytics (TechInsights)’s Wireless Smartphone Strategies (WSS) service research report, both global smartphone shipments (sell-in) and sales (sell-through) decreased MoM. Meanwhile the numbers are still below the volumes of 2021, indicating their yearly growths become negative.

The soft performance is mainly due to the suffer from higher inflation rate, skyrocketing food and oil prices, as well as exchange rate volatility etc., and also due to the weakening demand in multiple markets. Industry total inventory variance / changes decreased this month, indicating that the major OEMs this month were still under inventory cleaning status.

In terms of brands, Apple took the lead by shipment volume and Samsung remains in lead in sale volume in the market worldwide in October 2022, followed by Xiaomi. Xiaomi remains in third spot in both Shipment and sale volume. Other vendors on our top-10 list included OPPO, Vivo, Transsion, Honor, Realme, Lenovo-Motorola, and Huawei.
