On September 7, 2022, Apple unveiled the latest updates of its smartphone lineup -- iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max.
While the design hasn’t changed much in the last few years, with the new updates of the two iPhone 14 Pro models, we see the introduction of pill-shaped cutout called Dynamic Island, that not only hides the front camera setup, but also displays various notifications, alerts, and animations.
The two iPhone 14 Pro models are powered by the new A16 Bionic chipset, which considerably improves power efficiency, display and camera performance. Apple states that the new chip can handle 17 trillion operations per second, while using 20% less power than its predecessor.
iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max come with major camera improvements, including the upgrade to 48MP with improved low-light mode, newly added action mode for video that helps stabilize shots, as well as the improved Cinematic mode etc.
While the new iPhone 14 smartphones are undoubtedly great devices, they arrive at difficult times. Inflation is at its highest point in recent history, many countries are headed towards official recession, economies are struggling.
