Global Smartphone Installed Base Will Grow +3% YoY in 2022

by Yiwen Wu | 7月 01, 2022

Strategy Analytics forecasts the global smartphone installed base will grow +3% YoY in 2022 and 2023.

The growth rate however has been slowed down from previous years, because of the slowing growth of smartphone sales from both first-time buyers and the replacement sales, as well as the higher smartphone penetration rate. The growth rate will steadily go down to +2% by 2027.

Android and Apple iOS will maintain their absolute leadership in smartphone OS domain during the forecast window. Apple’s iOS will enjoy higher growth rate, benefiting from Huawei's fallout in premium segment and from Apple's increasing efforts to lower price segment with legacy devices and new SE devices. The initial performance of Harmony OS is encouraging, but its future in smartphone domain is cloudy, considering the falling performance of Huawei smartphones business and the recent departure of the OS creator from the vendor.
