Apple marginally grew +1% YoY, but it still performed much better than the overall smartphone market, which declined -11% YoY in Q1 2022. The company shipped 57 million smartphones for 18% global marketshare in the quarter.
Apple also registered its second highest ever wholesale ASP, a result of the greater mix of higher-priced iPhone 13 lineup, which combined for 85% of Apple’s total shipments in Q1 2022.
Despite the good results in Q1 2022, we expect the Covid-related closures of some of Apple’s manufacturing plants in China and the ongoing supply constraints to affect its performance next quarter, our iPhone forecast has been adjusted accordingly.
According to the SA Lens (see the chart below), Apple scored 4.3 (out of 5) in Q2 2022, which evaluates Apple as vendor on the top of its game and a leader in its field compared to the competition
