by David Kerr | 9月 16, 2021

The German smartphone market has been transformed over the last 10 years with Chinese vendors capturing almost 1 in 4 sales in Q2 2021 up from 15% in Q2 2011.

The composition of the market has changed with Samsung + Apple growing share from approximately 1 in 3 devices in Q1, 2011 to almost 70% at the end of Q2 2021. Xiaomi and Oppo are the rising stars of the market as Huawei share falls below 2%.  Vivo and HMD (Nokia) posted strong performance in Q2 2021 and are on the rise.

Fun fact: At the end of 2010 Sony and LG each had double digit share in the German Smartphone market. Today, they well south of 1%!!

Apple has a commanding lead in terms of volume share at each of the leading German operators with Samsung a clear number two. Oppo has gained a strong foothold at DT/T-Mobile and is the third ranked vendor.
