Curtains for CyanogenMod OS, All Services Shut

by Rajeev Nair | 12月 27, 2016

Cyanogen’s recent announcement of winding up all operations and ending of the nightly updates on December 31 2016 is in line with the recent spiral down of this start up. Strategy analytics has been closely tracking the company and the current closure of operations come months after its Restructuring and Reduction of work force followed by top management reshuffle.

The announcement entails the users of Micromax YU, OnePlus One and Lenovo Zuk Z1 smartphones will have to switch to the open source CyanogenMOD ROM, as they won’t be receiving any further updates. The latter is not a commercial operating system and run by the developer community. Cyanogen this year had launched the MOD and related programs and Strategy Analytics had a deep analysis on this development here.

The firm may now consider options of rebranding itself, as it looks to focus on new modular OS programs stemming out of the Cyanogen OS itself.
