According to the latest forecast report from our Wireless Smartphone Strategies (WSS) services: Global Smartphone Sales Forecast for 88 Countries : 2007 to 2022, global smartphone sales volume will grow a modest +3% YoY in 2016, largely due to increased penetration in developed / transition markets and economic headwinds in some countries.

Asia Pacific remains easily the biggest region, followed by North America. Africa Middle East will maintain the highest growth rate through 2022. The three largest smartphone countries by far in the next five years will be China, India and the USA, due to their massive populations.
