New research from our Smartphone Model Tracker (SMT) service shows Xiaomi has captured 3 of the 5 bestselling smartphone models in the giant India market this year.

Xiaomi's Redmi 7A, Note 7 Pro and Note 7S devices accounted for an impressive 1 in 7 of all smartphones sold in the country during recent months.

By contrast, rival Samsung has zero models among the top five. Apple has none in the top forty, reflecting iPhone's expensive pricing, lack of operator subsidies, and limited retail presence across the continent.
