iPhone X Remains at the Top in the US in Q1 2018

by Juha Winter | 5月 11, 2018

In the first quarter of 2018, Apple’s iPhone X was the best-selling smartphone model worldwide, and it comes as little surprise that it also conquered the top spot of the US smartphone market for the second quarter running. The flagship device remains remarkably popular despite its record-high ASP. This is not to say that the iPhone 8 or 8 Plus aren’t doing well – they are, in fact, following closely on the heels of the iPhone X in the US, in terms of shipments in Q1.

While Apple phones in general are very popular in Canada, it’s not always the very latest models that make it to the top in terms of shipments. In Q1’18, the iPhone X was not the best-selling iPhone in Canada, although it did improve its ranking from Q4’17. The older iPhone models such as iPhone 7 and 6s still remained popular alongside the iPhone 8. As we’ve noted earlier, this is due to the carrier pricing of monthly tariffs that favors less expensive models. This make older, more affordable flagship models as well as some select mid-range models, such as the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), attractive choices for the majority of consumers.
