Samsung Dominates the List of Best-Selling Smartphones in Russia in Q1 2017

by Juha Winter | 6月 07, 2017

Russia is Central and Eastern Europe’s largest smartphone market by a wide margin. Compared to other European markets, it also grew at a rapid pace of +14% year-on-year (YoY) in the first quarter of 2017. Samsung, Apple, and Lenovo-Motorola continue to be the big players there, taking roughly half of the entire market. Still, locally relevant vendors such as Fly are able to capture a high single-digit market share. But what about the most popular smartphone models in Russia?

According to recent research published by Strategy Analytics’ Smartphone Model Tracker (SMT) service, Samsung dominated the top-10 list of best-selling smartphones in Russia in Q1 2017, with seven models showing up. The Galaxy A5 and A3, new for 2017, were particularly strong performers. Apple rounded out the list with its popular iPhone 7 / 7 Plus and SE. Looking at the longer top-50 list of best-selling smartphones, however, one starts to see models from Fly, Huawei, and Lenovo-Motorola as well as some other Chinese brands.
