mmWave vs Sub-6 Smartphone Retail Prices:

Multiple regression analysis of PriceTRAX global prices and key BoM specs shows that Android smartphones with mmW features command a price premium of 130 USD. Apple’s recent iPhone 12 model family suggests a different value for iOS smartphones.
We predict that the retail price of smartphones featuring mmW will be driven down as the component supply base expands. The cost of mmW technology is high partly due to some components currently being single sourced. RF & Wireless Components (RFWC) research recently reported that Qualcomm supplied the only commercially available and enabled mmWave chipsets. According to the Handset Components Technology (HCT) service; mmWave is due to see a boom in SKU counts during 2H 2021 after HiSilicon, Samsung & MediaTek mmWave enabled smartphones launch.
