Kenya is one of Africa's biggest and most innovative
smartphone markets. The country is closely watched for new trends in mobile money or micropayments.
Among smartphone makers,
Tecno was top of the sales charts in 2021. That has changed in the first half of 2022.
Samsung is now back on top at number one, with
over 25% marketshare.
This is Samsung's
best performance for half a decade.
To be sure, Samsung still faces intense competition across Kenya. Fellow brands in the Transsion stable, Itel and
Infinix, are not far behind the top two, and they're launching new 4G models for the second half of the year, such as the Note 12 series with 120W fast-charging.
Samsung is ahead -- for now.
