Q2’21: India Smartphone Market Slows Amidst Pandemic’s Second Wave

India smartphone market declined by -15% sequentially in Q2 2021. The world’s second largest smartphone market however did grow annually. This being more on account of the corresponding quarter of 2020 being the weakest, from COVID impact. Xiaomi, Samsung and Vivo were the top three vendors in the quarter by shipments. Both the Tier 1 and Tier 2 Chinese vendors continue to surge in the India market, despite the challenges posed by COVID’s second wave. They better managed both the manufacturing and distribution leveraging their learnings over the year managing the pandemic.
