Vietnam Smartphone shipments grew to their highest ever in Q1 2021.  The sharp spurt in volumes and growth rates were on the back of a minimal impact from the COVID-19 pandemic. Samsung, OPPO and Apple were the top three smartphone vendors. Samsung, continues to consolidate its position in this market and is beginning to maximize its gains from the exit of VinSmart. Vietnam, is the third largest market by volumes, in the South East Asian (SEA) Region. Its share of the smartphone volumes in this sub -region surged to the highest ever in Q1 2021.

The build up of Chinese vendors is strong in Vietnam as is the case with the other countries of SEA region. We expect fierce competition to maximize gains in the upcoming quarters of from 2021 from the exit of VinSmart.
