Reliance Jio launched the successor (Jio Phone 2) to its first 4G feature phone in India and would be available for retail from August 15 2018. The vendor with its first version has been able to scale up to the top position in the feature phone segment in India, in Q1 2018, per our latest report available here from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) Service.

With the availability of WhatsApp, Facebook and YouTube, Jio Phone 2 would be better placed to take on the Android GO based smartphones that are expected to take off in H2 2018. This apart the phone includes QWERTY keyboard, dedicated voice search button, a 2 MP main camera with LED flash. The device is priced (wholesale) at US$ 41.

We expect Reliance Jio to continue on with its dominance in the Indian Feature phone market in 2018, as it backs the new launch announcements with attractive data plans and exchange schemes for the Indian feature phone users.
