The new and emerging “next 30” markets accounted for 1 in 5 of all smartphones shipped globally in Q2 2017. Shipments to these markets grew by a combined 7% annually in the quarter, per our latest report available here from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) Service.
Indonesia, Thailand and Nigeria were ranked the top three countries of the thirty, in terms of shipments in the quarter. Samsung, Huawei and Apple were ranked top three vendors by combined shipments to these emerging markets. Samsung alone led in 24 out of the 30 markets tracked in this report.
The 30 "new and emerging" countries tracked include: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Chile, Colombia, Denmark, Egypt, Hong Kong, Hungary, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Kenya, Malaysia, Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Saudi Arabia , Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, Ukraine, Venezuela and Vietnam.
