Reliance–Jio Losing Out to Chinese Smartphone Vendors

by Rajeev Nair | 5月 24, 2017

Reliance – Jio with its LYF brand of smartphones was overtaken by the Chinese vendors, for the top five rankings, in the Indian smartphone market in Q1 2017, per our latest report available here, from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) Service. Its net subscriber additions were the highest in the month of March 2017. This was the first month since the telecom operator launched its paid services (Jio Prime Membership Program). However, the growth has slowed down compared to previous months.

The vendor was ranked 12th in the Indian Handset market in the Q1 2017 quarter. Its growth momentum, as witnessed last year, could return back as the vendor launches its 4G feature phones into the Indian market, in the second half of 2017.
