Reliance-Jio’s Prime Membership for First 100 million Subscribers

Reliance-Jio hit the 100 million subscriber mark in February 2017; almost 5 months post the roll out of free 4G services in India, under the ‘welcome offer’. Per our latest research available here, from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) Service, the telecom operator’s LYF brand of smartphones were ranked among the top 5 in India in 2016, by shipments.

Customer retention now being a priority, post the expiry of the extended welcome offer, on March 31st 2017, the telecom operator is rolling out Jio Prime Membership Program. Prime membership program would be available for the first 100 million Jio's customers, for the next one year (till 31 March 2018). Enrolment for the program would be open from 1st -31st March 2017 via Reliance Digital Stores or Jio website or MyJio App.

Under the Jio Prime Membership Program, these 100 million customers could avail the free services they have enjoyed for the last six months, for a onetime payment of INR 99 (US$ 1.5). Additionally Jio would charge INR 303 per month (US$ 4.5) till 31st March 2018. Jio media services like Jio Music, JioTV, JioCinema, JioXpressNews would be complementary for the ones enrolling under the program.
