by Rajeev Nair | 12月 09, 2016

Micromax has launched the 4G VoLTE capable Vdeo Series of Smartphone in India. The vendor retained second position in the Indian smartphone market, in our latest Q3’16 report, available here from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) Service.

Vdeo 1 and Vdeo 2 are entry priced smartphones with 4 and 4.5 inch display respectively and have focus on the video calling feature. The phone comes preinstalled with Google Duo app. With a wholesale price of US$ 58 (Vdeo 1) and US$ 66 (Vdeo 2), the two budget phones also come bundled with Reliance-Jio SIM cards. The budget 4G segment has been of immense interest in India since the aggressive launch of 4G network from Reliance-Jio.

Micromax has been under intense pressure of lately as its shipments continue to decline and is looking up to the 4G segment to bring back growth. In the 4G segment too it has slipped to the fifth position in Q3’16 quarter in the Indian market.
