Reliance- Jio has extended the Welcome Offer’ till March 31, 2017 and would now be rechristened as ‘Happy New Year Offer’. Under the Welcome offer, this new telco had offered free voice and data services to its subscribers. As a result, Reliance – Jio with its LYF brand of smartphones, have instantly managed to scale up its rankings, in the intensely competitive Indian Smartphone market. Our latest report, available here, from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) Service confirms to Jio as the fourth largest vendor by shipments in Q3 2016.

The rebranded Happy New Year Offer, starting December 4 2016, would include all benefits available earlier to the subscribers under the Welcome Offer, though with an FUP limit. Reliance – Jio in its latest announcement also claims to have crossed the 50 million subscriber base, since the start of its formal operations three months back. Jio also confirms to home delivery of SIM’s in top 100 cities by the end of December 2016.
