India Smartphone Market Grows by 19% in Q2’16

by Rajeev Nair | 7月 30, 2016

The Indian Smartphone market skipped the global cues again, to grow by 19% annually, in Q2 2016. While Samsung and Micromax retained the top two positions, it was Reliance-Jio that scaled up to the third spot. The vendor with its ‘LYF’ brand of smartphones is going all out, nearing the formal launch of its 4G LTE network in the country in H2 2016.

Our recent report available here, from the Handset Country Share (HCST) Tracker Service also points to the growth of Chinese vendors during the quarter, at the expense of local vendors, backed by heavy marketing investment for their value for money devices.

This extensive quarterly report contains handset and smartphone shipments and market share by key vendors and operating systems in India, from Q1 2009 to Q2 2016. The report is a valuable tool for stakeholders wishing to track the India market; soon to be the world’s second largest by volumes.
