by User Not Found | 12月 09, 2015

The battle for Indian 4G market is set to step up to the next level with multiple operators entering the market. Latest one being Vodafone, bringing its 4G services to the southernmost part of the country.  Reliance-Jio, with pan India 4G licence took its beta phase to the next level by offering 4G enabled SIM cards and VoLTE handsets under their Lyf brand, to their own employees. It is already rumoured to have placed an order of the first tranche of 20 million 4G smartphones to mobile vendors and ODM (Original Design Manufacturers) players for LYF brand.

India too is expected to plug into the high paced global 4G market, which grew by +99% in Q3 2015, per our latest estimates from the Handset Country Share Tracker (HCST) service. Most of the leading Indian Smartphone vendors have started dedicating 10-15% of their smartphone portfolio to the 4G segment with a particular emphasis on Mid and Entry priced devices. These 4G capable devices had a substantial contribution in their growth last quarter growth, playing a key role in the rankings, available here.
