Will New "Galaxy On" Line-Ups Help to Regain Samsung's Smartphone Share in China?

Samsung announced its brand-new affordable smartphone lines-ups, called Galaxy On, in China last week. From the end of last year, Samsung has started to streamline its lower-priced smartphone devices into Galaxy A, E, J and Z (Tizen), and this smartphone giant added one more smartphone brand, Galaxy On.

Two Galaxy On-branded smartphones announced are Galaxy On5 and On7. Galaxy On5 device is featuring 4G LTE, 5 inch HD display, 1.5GB(DRAM)/8GB(Flash), 2,600mAh battery while a bit high-end On7 model is supporting 5.5 inch HD and 3,000mAh battery. It is estimated that Samsung is pricing On5 and On7 at US$125 and US$170 (in wholesale) respectively, even lower than Galaxy E and J series.

Samsung is struggling to regain its dominant market share in China recent quarters, pressured from local Chinese vendors and Apple, and it remains to be seen whether these budget smartphones would help with the volume share increase.
