Sharp, the 3rd biggest handset vendor in Japan during Q2 2015, is planning to introduce a very innovative and multi-functional human-shaped smartphone
based on Robot design,
RoBoHoN, in the first half of 2016 in Japan. The name,
RoBoHon, is referring to '
Robot' and
'Hon', which means a Phone in Japanese language.
This Robot prototype unveiled by Sharp at CEATEC trade show can play a lot of valuable roles from
smartphone, personal assistant, dancer, friend, projector and what not.
Sharp is struggling to keep up its handset market share in the world though it is doing quite strong in Japan market,
based on our quarterly country share tracker report. This cute, but innovative design will be likely to remain niche for the time being, but it may be
a signal for the future form of the current smartphone in the long run.
