Apple Remains King of Europe's 5G Phones

by Neil Mawston | 2月 09, 2023

New research from our Emerging Device Technologies (EDT) service shows Apple iPhone captured HALF of all 5G smartphones sold in Western Europe during Q4 2022. It has a commanding 52% share of the whole region.

Despite eye-watering prices -- often at €1,000 or more -- Apple sells more 5G smartphones in Western Europe than the rest of the entire industry combined. It easily outsells Samsung, and has kept a wave of hungry Chinese rivals (like Honor) at bay for another year. European customers from Germany, UK and elsewhere like Apple's high-status brand, the iPhone's supreme usability, its superfast 5G download speeds, and a seemingly endless choice of available apps for business, education, or entertainment.

The 5G phone market, of course, is vital because it attracts the highest prices for device manufacturers and the highest ARPUs for mobile carriers.
