Samsung and Xiaomi Continue Fighting for The Position of The Second Largest 5G Vendor

by Ville-Petteri Ukonaho | 9月 16, 2022

  • 5G market will face the same slowdown as all other markets due geopolitical turbulence and inflation.
  • Samsung and Xiaomi continue fighting for the position of the second largest 5G vendor, but Xiaomi’s shipments are affected by COVID lockdowns in China as well as geopolitical problems in one of its important markets, Russia.

  • North America commands 99% of the mmWave shipments and is the only region with widespread mmWave support in smartphones. That might change with the C-band becoming available widely.
  • High global consumer price inflation is envisioned to persist for longer than previously assumed as a result of surging commodity prices and lingering supply bottlenecks.
  • The pandemic has left deep scars in the form of lower investment, lower human capital, and a retreat from global supply chains, all of which are likely to dampen potential growth in the longer term.
  • Almost all global and regional economic research institutions have significantly lowered their growth forecasts for the world economy' growth in 2022, and all the way down to 2024. Furthermore, some economies are unlikely to see a pickup in growth until 2025.
