Apple,
Samsung and Xiaomi capture the top three positions in
global 5G smartphone shipments in Q2 2022.
The three vendors, combined, took over 2/3rds share of the total 5G smartphone market in the most recent quarter, up from less than 60% in the year-ago quarter.
Samsung made the most share gains, shipping nearly 1 in 5 of all 5G smartphones worldwide in Q2 2022. Xiaomi lost ground in the quarter, while Apple made only marginal share improvements.
Overall, global handset shipments declined by double digits in Q2 2022, even as 5G shipments recorded healthy double digit growth. Older handset technologies including 4G saw shipments slide compared to the year-ago quarter.
