5G Smartphone Shipments Grow by Triple Digits in Q3 2021

by Ken Hyers | 11月 17, 2021

5G is growing fast in nearly all regions. Global 5G smartphone shipments grew by triple-digit percentages YoY in Q3 2021. This despite a global components shortage that saw some vendors note that their shipments would have been even higher were it not for the lack of availability of critical parts needed to manufacture phones.

Apple is the leading 5G device vendor. Xiaomi has managed to solidify its position as the world's second largest 5G vendor. Honor has managed to capture some of the share Huawei gave up, especially in its home market in China. Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo have taken the lion's share of lost Huawei market share in most regions.

Chinese vendors as a whole are leading in 5G vendor shipments. Their combined share is more than half of total global 5G shipments.  5G smartphones are now the single most important category for major Chinese smartphone vendors by volume.
