Strategy Analytics Emerging Device Technologies service has released its latest 5G installed base report containing detailed information of 88 counties from six regions.

The rise of 5G smartphones in various regions is increasing the penetration of 5G smartphones. Strategy Analytics estimates that installed base will surpass 800 million in 2021 and 1 billion in first half of 2022. Installed base is forecasted to hit nearly 3 billion by 2026.

Highest 5G penetration among all countries can be found from Asia Pacific where Singapore and South Korea will surpass 50% penetration in 2021. Overall highest 5G penetration is in North America that will reach 38% penetration in 2021.

China leads in 5G installed base total volumes with over 400 million 5G smartphones in use already. China commands over 50% share of the entire 5G installed base. Asia Pacific region holds 66% of the entire 5G smartphone installed base.
