5G Smartphone shipments and sales are growing rapidly in markets around the globe. Smartphone vendors have rapidly transitioned from 4G to 5G.

The installed base of 5G smartphones worldwide will nearly triple in 2021 from the previous year. The Asia Pacific region, driven by China's rapid adoption of 5G smartphones, will account for 2/3rds of that installed base.



China has the largest installed base of 5G smartphones in the world today; that will not change for the foreseeable future. The United States has the second largest 5G smartphone installed base today, but in just a few years, India will pass it.

5G smartphones are well on their way to becoming the primary smartphone used worldwide. The reign of 4G LTE smartphones will soon end.
