ZTE Axon 20 5G became the first device that is launched with under-display front camera. The technology has been coming for some time ever since Samsung Display introduced this interesting concept at their conference in October 2018 and OPPO showcased such design back in 2019. Both companies were beaten by ZTE this week as ZTE became the first to commercialise the technology.

ZTE Axon 20 5G itself is a high-tier device with rather common specifications for such device. Snapdragon 765G with different memory variants (6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB),
FHD+ display and
quad sensor camera is quite common setup in this price-tier. 5G will make this device future proof and will ensure good sales in ZTE's home country.
Strategy Analytics sees transparent display technology as the ultimate solution that will become mainstream now as the technology is clearly mature enough for mass production. We predict transparent display will have significant share of all full display smartphones by 2025 mainly in the high and premium-tiers.
Strategy Analytics EDT will publish new refreshed display technologies forecasts within the next month. Stay tuned!
