IFA: Day 1: Wearables Rule

by Neil Mawston | 8月 31, 2017

Day 1 of the big IFA tradeshow in Germany, on Weds, 30th August, 2017, turned up three notable new products that we saw from Samsung, Fitbit and Diesel.

As our WDE (Wearables) service notes -- today was the day of wearables.

1. SAMSUNG GEAR SPORT / FIT2 PRO: These are two health-led smartwatches and fitnessbands with Tizen OS for higher-end consumers. The two models are unlikely to worry Apple too much, due to their quirky designs, but Fitbit. LG and Garmin play in the same price-band and they are squarely in the Samsung line-of-fire. Learn more here.

2. FITBIT IONIC: The styling of this smartwatch is a disappointment, but it does have a differentiated blood-oxygen sensor that can attract fitness fans and the worried-well. Will Ionic be iconic? Learn more here.

3. DIESEL ON FULL GUARD: The styling of this fashion-led smartwatch is a pleasure to the eye. Fitbit can learn a lot from Diesel (owned by Fossil). Read more here.
