Blackberry Rumored to Bring a New Handset With TCL Design

by Ville-Petteri Ukonaho | 9月 23, 2016

Struggling handset vendor Blackberry is rumored to bring a new Android based device to markets soon. The device is much more than your basic upgrade to previous version, it is a new flagship from Blackberry.

The new handset named DTEK60 was leaked to public via internal website that went alive by mistake. DTEK60 is likely a continuation to the TCL-made DTEK50 with improved specs. Highlights in the specsheet include: 5.5 inch WQHD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB RAM, 32GB internal memory. Blackberry is also improving the rear camera to 21Mpix, adding fingerprint sensor and changing connection port to USB Type-C.

DTEK50 was basically a rebranded TCL-Alcatel Idol 4 and leaked specsheet points to the direction that the DTEK60 is likely based on Alcatel Idol 4S design with somewhat improved internals.

Back in June there was a rumor that Blackberry was working on three new devices codenamed Neon, Argon and Mercury. Neon a.k.a. DTEK50 was the first release, Argon a.k.a. DTEK60 is likely the second one. The third device is the most interesting one as it is supposed to pack a QWERTY keyboard much like PRIV.
