LG’s Volume Recovery Fails to Stem Financial Erosion in Q2’16

LG’s handset shipments grew +4% YoY in Q2 2016 as its Revenues, Profits and ASP fell. Our latest analysis of the vendor, available here from the Wireless Device Strategy (WDS) Service confirms to soft demand for its new G5 “modular” halo model. The G5 joins a long list of modular phones that have failed to take off in recent years, including Google Ara and Modu.

LG is now in need of a fresh standout flagship, that could kick start the financial recovery of its handset division. The insight report recommends a series of steps that could be considered by the vendor, to script a faster turnaround in the mobile market.
