South Korea and Japan are delivering the highest ASP in global handset industry through 2017

by Woody Oh | 7月 10, 2013

According to our Wireless Device Strategies (WDS) service, South Korea and Japan are forecasted to become top two countries in terms of the highest handset ASP ranking, fueled by the fastest growing LTE/LTE-A penetration through 2017. We expect global handset wholesale ASPs to be rapidly driven upward by heavily subsidized high-end 3G / 4G models in postpaid markets like North America. Global ASPs will start to drift from 2014 onwards, due to increased penetration of entry-level smartphones.

The global handset wholesale revenues will grow strongly in 2013, followed by the modest growth in the following four years through 2017, as 2G / 3G segments mature and drag down prices. The published report by WDS, available to our clients, forecasts global handset ASP & Revenue by region & by 88 Countries from 2012 to 2017, will be a valuable data model to identify how much three top countries account for in terms of global wholesale revenue in 2014 and which two countries are going to deliver the world's lowest wholesale ASPs in 2014.
