Smartphone batteries are yet to see breakthroughs despite the potential for innovative battery technologies to improve performance, but such innovations have not made significant advancements due to limitations in their commercial implementation. However, over the last two years, the progress in this domain has been fuelled by the successful application of Lithium-Silicon anode batteries.

Recently, Honor announced the commercial application of Silicon-carbon Battery technology for its smartphones in MWC 2023. The company has claimed to achieve significant breakthroughs in dramatically increasing energy density and improving the total battery charge times.
