5G services were launched by the three mobile operators (KT, LG Uplus, and SK Telecom) in South Korea in April 2019. In a highly competitive market where differentiation on network quality and pricing is difficult, LG Uplus has succeeded in growing its share of 5G subscriptions with a strong focus on AR and VR content and experiences. Strategy Analytics’ analysts visited Seoul in July 2019 to review the 5G network experience and evaluate these new services for ourselves. This report assesses the user experience of the LG Uplus 5G offering and identifies key lessons for success for 5G operators.
