This report represents part one of a two-part series on data privacy.

In May 2019, Strategy Analytics undertook a series of online focus groups with consumers in the US and UK to investigate consumer perceptions on privacy. Specifically, Strategy Analytics wanted to investigate:

• Precautions consumers take to safeguard their privacy,
• Level of knowledge regarding data privacy,
• Factors impacting the decision whether to share information,
• Brands/companies they trust with their data,
• Impact of biometrics both as a security feature and as potentially shareable information.
