OECD Mobile Voice and Data Price Benchmarking Q1 2022 update:
The Q1 2022 update of the OECD Mobile and Data Voice Price Benchmarking service is now available for download. For a residential user with a relatively heavy call and data requirements (making 300 calls a month totalling just over 577 minutes, and with a 5 GB mobile data requirement and 40 text messages), the My Prepaid Epic Value plan from Optus in Australia, which comes with 5GB of data is the cheapest at just over USD PPP 9 per month. Next cheapest are the Mutlu Mega Happy plan with a sizeable data allowance of 70GB, from Turkcell in Turkey, and the Cellcom Perfect Package plan with a huge 200 GB of data, from Israeli operator Cellcom, at USD PPP 9.19/month and USD PPP 9.40/month respectively. Also under the USD PPP 10 per month mark is Tango Luxembourg’s Smart LU plan with 5GB data.
At the other end, most expensive for this basket is the Hiper M Talk plan from Telenor Hungary, with 5GB data, and a monthly cost of just over USD PPP 63, followed by KDDI au Japan’s 4G All-You-Can-Use Max plan, at just under USD 56.
The average cost for this basket across all OECD countries is USD PPP 25.07/month.
5G tariffs are increasingly featuring in the results, with some 5G plans featuring as the overall cheapest for this basket.
