Report Summary:

The Subscription TV Forecast combines Strategy Analytics' outlook for pay TV and subscription VOD (SVOD) into one model. Overall, consumers had 1.36 billion TV and video subscriptions in 2017, this translates to 0.84 TV and video subscription per TV household globally. Of these, the Asia Pacific region accounted for just over half (51%) of all TV and video subscriptions, followed by North America (19%), and Western Europe (11%). By 2022, TV and video subscriptions will grow to 1.80 billion globally, this translates to 1.05 TV and video subscription per TV household globally. As a result of growth in other regions, particularly Latin America and the Middle East & Africa, Asia Pacific's share of TV and video subscriptions will fall slightly to 49%, followed by North America (18%), and Western Europe (12%).

This report provides detailed forecasts for the subscription TV market, including traditional pay TV, subscription VOD (SVOD) and vMVPD (virtual Multichannel Video Programming Distributor) services. In addition to the global forecast, regional forecast for North America, Western Europe, Central & Eastern Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and the Middle East & Africa are also included.
