Lead by Google and Facebook, digital media revenues were up 29% YoY in 2021
Strategy Analytics' Digital Media Index (DMI) analyzes quarterly digital media revenue trends for 43 publicly traded companies across games, advertising, video, music, and social media. The Digital Media Index measures growth on both a quarterly and trailing twelve month (TTM) basis.
Digital media revenues capped off a strong 2021, growing $24.5B in Q4 2021, growing nearly 12.1% QoQ to reach $227.3B, among companies tracked. Google ($10.2B), Facebook ($4.6B) and Alibaba ($3.6B) saw the largest growth in Q4 2021.
In terms of absolute revenues, Google remains the DMI leader, generating $75.3B in revenues during Q4 2021, followed by Facebook with $33.6B, and Alibaba with $21.0B.
