Report Summary:

In both the US and Europe, consumers purchase intentions for game consoles have increased. PlayStation 4 is the most popular game console in both regions, as participants showed stronger interest towards purchasing the game console in next 12 months. The UK and German consumers’ buying intentions for  PlayStation 4 have fallen in 2015 to an all time low. Nintendo Wii U popularity has significantly increased in the US, as console purchase intent has grown by 4.1% in the last three quarters. Consumers buying intentions for the previous generations (PS3 and Xbox 360) and handheld consoles have increased strongly since Q4 2014.

Strategy Analytics conducted an online survey of consumer purchase intentions of game consoles. This bulletin presents the purchase intention data for TV game consoles (Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii U) and handheld game consoles (PlayStation Vita and Nintendo 3DS), based on a survey of more than 6000 respondents in the US and Europe.
