Report Summary:

Over 700 attendees packed the halls of the Crown Plaza, Palo Alto hotel for the IoT World conference. The conference offered a great networking opportunity for players across the value chain from traditional M2M module players like Digi to connectivity experts like Axeda and big name solutions providers like Salesforce, and Oracle. Perhaps most noticeable was the strong presence of chipset and enabling technology vendors from platinum sponsor Marvell to Intel, Arm, Broadcom, Freescale and Sequans all desperately seeking he next Billion unit opportunity. Equally notable was the lack of speakers from the operator or service provider community although a few operator representatives were in attendance. The overwhelming tone of the conference was the need to add value, provide consultative selling and define upselling opportunities for equipment vendors and managed services providers. Little if any opportunity for service providers was highlighted by the attendees or speakers.
