On February 3rd 2016, Cisco announced its intent to acquire Jasper Technologies, a privately held company that delivers a cloud-based IoT service platform to help enterprises and service providers deliver IoT services on a global scale. Cisco will pay $1.4 billion in cash. Jasper has been a pioneer in the IoT cellular connectivity platform business since it was founded in 2004 and after many years has found a buyer with whom there are real synergies for tackling the complexity and scale of IoT.
