HMD smartphone shipments continue on a growth pattern. HMD’s global smartphone shipments grew 34% YoY in the fourth quarter and astonishing 214% for the whole year 2018. Regardless of good progress in smartphones, total handset shipments declined -24% during 4th quarter due intensified competition in the feature phones that declined -35% YoY. For the whole year 2018 handset shipments grew 13% and feature phones declined -6% YoY. Increased competition especially in the African and Indian markets was main reason for the decreasing feature phone sales.
