Report Summary:

The expected boost from the launch of the new flagship HTC One smartphone was less than expected, with the company suffering a disappointing -33% decline in units shipped worldwide during Q2 2013. Aside from some supply-chain issues, we believe HTC is in the position of having relatively few differentiators in terms of hardware, software, services, distribution or marketing. Consolidation of its operations is the most sensible option and HTC must seek out geographies and market segments where it can differentiate itself profitably from larger rivals.
